Dear Parents, Teachers, and Counselors,
Welcome to the resource page! My inspiration for the Naughty Nicole Series came from my time spent attaining my Master’s Degree from the University of Santa Monica. At USM, I learned invaluable skills and concepts that forever changed the course of my life in numerous positive ways. As an adult at the time, I couldn’t help but think, “If only I had known a fraction of this information at a younger age!” The seed was planted within me to share what I was learning with the children in my life. Since then, I’ve spent 13 years as an educator teaching children the life-altering concepts woven throughout the Naughty Nicole books. Now, I’d like to share my life’s work with you in hopes that you, too, can positively impact the children in your life.
On this page, you will find links to two resources: Units/Lessons, found on Teachers Pay Teachers, and Playbooks for Kids, for sale on Amazon. Both resources take the skills written about in the Naughty Nicole Series and encourage children to contemplate, engage with, and apply the skills to their own lives. The features found in both resources include:
• Visku’s Wisdom – A narrative story told through the eyes of Visku, the wise dragonfly. In each story, Visku teaches a child what the skill is, why it’s important, and how and when to use the skill.
• A time to think about WHAT, WHY, HOW, and WHEN to use the skill, including a section on asking a trusted adult when in need of assistance.
• A Guided Visualization for children to begin to imagine and contemplate HOW each skill applies personally to them.
• Various activities for discussion, reflection, collaboration, and artistic expression.
Some of the features in the resources overlap. They have similar content geared toward a different audiences. The chart below identifies some of the differences between the two. I propose that you consider which resource is best for you and your children. Feel free to check out one or both and use them as you see fit. I hope you enjoy!
Sincerely,
Nicole
